Let’s play ball

Gary Yordon mounts the plate during the 11th Annual Roast & Toast hosted by the Capital Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association! This year's event, It's All a Game, will celebrate Tallahassee's favorite political pundit, adventure seeker and sports enthusiast. Prepare yourself for a record-breaking evening as you enjoy two of America’s favorite pastimes—baseball and politics.

Gary’s Dugout: There's Something About Gary

After eight years as a host and producer on public television, Gary was elected to the Leon County Commission in 1986. During his dozen years in public office he served twice as Commission Chairman and six years as Chairman of the Tourist Development Council.

Known for his ability to build consensus, Gary was the only county commissioner in Florida ever to be nominated for the John F. Kennedy Profiles In Courage Award for his efforts to protect Florida’s water resources. He was twice named Florida Local Elected Official of the Year by The Florida Jaycees.

After leaving office in 1998, Gary returned to his roots and began hosting the popular CBS television political program, The Usual Suspects. Today, the show remains a political staple in the state of Florida.

Gary also founded the media and political consulting firm, The Zachary Group. In 2006 Gary became a partner in the government and media consulting firm, Governance, Inc.

He has directed the campaigns of more than sixty local, state and federal candidates as well as designing media for government sponsored referendums. Gary also produces award-winning media for corporate clients as well as private agencies.

Gary plays outfield for the National Amateur Baseball Team, The Tallahassee Bombers and is the former seed spitting champion at the Jefferson County Watermelon Festival.
