Graphics Designer

The Department of Education is seeking a talented graphics designer. Responsibilities include the application of good design principles in the production of various print media such as brochures, posters, report covers, logo development, manuals, conference materials, displays and presentation charts.

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years related experience or equivalent related experience/education
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Department staff
  • Working knowledge of Apple OS X and Adobe CS Publishing suite
  • Familiarity with Web site design and FLASH experience a plus

Director of Media Relations

The Florida Chamber of Commerce, "Florida's Business Advocate," is seeking a Director of Media Relations to serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson and point of contact for media. This individual should be a highly driven and persuasive communicator that understands the communications and legislative environments. The Director of Media Relations is responsible for all legislative communications activities and initiatives for media and Florida Chamber members.

Required:

  • Five years of experience in communications or public relations related to legislative or public policy issues, including experience in writing, editing and production of business and legislative material for publication.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, business or political science. Master's degree in communications, business or public administration and knowledge of politics and government preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of government, executive and legislative branches, at the state and federal level.
  • Knowledge of business-related issues.
  • Preexisting relationships with Capitol Press Corps and statewide business and political writers required.
  • Knowledge of new media and current communications technologies preferred.
  • Spanish language fluency desired.

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
The FSU Foundation

Position Summary:
The Florida State University Foundation is seeking a Director of Communications. The incumbent provides leadership, direction and administrative oversight to the communications team within the Office of Advancement Relations (OAR). The Director of Communications directly influences the Foundation's internal and external communications efforts, media relations, Web site and intranet development and publications initiatives. The Director of Communications will be expected to uphold and exemplify the operating practices and mission of the Florida State University Foundation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development and management of strategic internal and external communication efforts.
  • Establishes measures for monitoring accountability and effectiveness of communications efforts.
  • Develops communication strategies that articulate key messages and consistently advance the Foundation's mission and goals.
  • Establishes and monitors priorities of the department to focus on positioning the Foundation with major constituencies. Adjust priorities as necessary in order to remain flexible and responsible to any sudden opportunities or needs.
  • Manages the Foundation’s media relations efforts.
  • Cultivates long-term, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and a broad network of alliances.
  • Provides direction and oversight to print and electronic publication initiatives.
  • Takes a lead role in the conceptualization and development of collateral material for major campaigns, including case statements and fund raising brochures, and will coordinate the production of other campaign materials, both print and electronic.
  • Oversees web and appropriate intranet content and the expansion of web presence.
  • Assists the Office of Advancement Relations with its strategic, long term planning efforts.
  • Supervise and evaluate direct report personnel and coordinate training to enhance performance.
  • Protects confidential information.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Experience: Five years professional experience in private or public sector communications to include a minimum of three years in a management capacity. Nature of Work:
Serve as the principal communications liaison to help the Everglades Foundation achieve its fundamental mission: advancing Everglades' restoration. In the process, the Director of Communications will position the Foundation as the premier organization promoting science, research and policies to achieve this goal. Reports to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications plan for the Foundation.
  • Develop daily and long-term communications strategy to maximize exposure of the Foundation and its work to key constituencies.
  • Generate sustained, proactive earned media coverage of Foundation priorities, Everglades' restoration developments and restoration success stories.
  • Effectively execute strategies to build the Everglades Foundation "brand" with a special emphasis on opinion leaders, policymakers, the media and potential donors.
  • Utilize the Foundation's science, research and policy expertise to aggressively inject Foundation voices into news coverage of issues affecting the Everglades.
  • Develop and implement strategies to utilize new media and online coverage of the Foundation.
  • Working with development staff, conceive and generate regular communications to Everglades Foundation donors.
  • Working with staff, produce the Everglades Foundation's Annual Report.
  • Write, edit and produce regular Foundation newsletters, electronic updates and periodicals.
  • Promote and schedule interviews and other media opportunities for CEO and other EF voices.
  • Secure strategic speaking engagements and manage the Foundation's Speakers' Bureau.
  • Create and organize media events, conference calls and online forums to promote the priorities of the Foundation.
  • Create and manage all online communications providing fresh online content on a daily basis.
  • Assist in developing and promoting Foundation donor events, especially the annual ForEverglades Benefit.
  • Maintain and regularly update media contact databases.
